Recently MUTOH has introduced a modification onto the main board and carriage board assembly for ValueCut cutting plotters. With the new revision of boards in combination with a new F/W version the overall stability of the cutting plotter and the print & cut accuracy will be improved. The new boards (main board and CR board) are not compatible with the current version of boards. That means that in case of one of the 2 boards needs to be replaced, you have to order and replace both the main board as well as the carriage board at the same time. After the board replacement, the main board firmware needs to be upgraded to version V3.02A-02 or higher and a complete initialization of the parameters needs to be performed. (For instructions, see further in this document).
Part number new main board
- ME-G29009000G > ML-10020
New revised main board is labelled with white M in pink colored circle. (see lower right near USB connector)
Part number new CR board

1 Procedure
- Firmware Upgrade
When you change the main board, it is necessary to upgrade firmware to latest version (V3.02A-02. Check for latest version on MUTOH FTP site). This is done as follows:Note
Normally, before a new spare main board is ready to ship, a loader or even a firmware (smallest size of ordered model series (VC-600)) will be uploaded first on it. In case of functionality problem happening due to incorrect firmware version, please verify if the existing firmware on this main board is the desired one. A new program called (ValueCut File Uploader) is a tool for users to easily upgrade firmware, followed by the steps listed below.
Step 1: Press indicated buttons by different port transmission listed on the table and open a “ValueCut File Upload”.Port to use USB port Serial Port Operation [Down] key + power on [Cut test] key + Power on
Step 2: Select a desired firmware and port on “ValueCut File Uploader” dialogue box, then press START for uploading.
When the firmware update is completed, the machine will reboot and start in normal mode automatically.
Step 3: Perform parameter initialization:
1) Initialize all settings
Completely initialize all the settings including backed-up “AAS Offset X/Y”, “Scale length/Width” values.
Step 1: Press “TOOL SELECT” and enter the tool setting menu.Important The message “Offline for system setup” only appears in case media is loaded in the ValueCut. In case No media is loaded, the machine will show following message: “To load: Place media, To setup: Valid keys”.
Step 2: Press “>” and display the restore menu.
Step 3: Press “CUT TEST” and “ON/OFF LINE” at the same time.
Step 4: Press “ENTER”.
Step 5: Press “DATA CLEAR”.
Step 6: Press “ENTER”.
Step 7: Press key to change “Cancel Restore” into “Sure to restore”!
Step 8: If “Sure to restore” appears, press ENTER
Step 9: “ENTER” then all the setting values will be initialized.
Step 10: Turn off the power after initialization.
2) Adjust Image Scale length and Image Scale width calibration
Plot a rectangle of 500x500, and practically measure the dimensions that are plotted. Measure the plot output, and enter these dimensions / values in the appropriate plotter menu.
Menu: Image scale length / Image scale width
Scale setup steps
Step 1: Press the [MICS] key by “OFF LINE” mode to enter the Setup Menu, then select [Scale Length] and change the left number to [500]. Next change the right number to the value shown on the “Parameter record card”.
Step 2: To adjust the scale of media length and width: The Denominator is the actual length, and the Numerator is the ideal length measured from the resultant.
For example, cutting a line with 500.0 mm length.
The procedure as follows:
Step 1: Press the [LEFT ARROW] to choose the Numerator and select 500.0 mm,
Step 2: Cut the length by sending a graph file,
Step 3: Measure the length then use the [RIGHT ARROW] key to choose the Denominator, then press [UP ARROW /DOWN ARROW] to change the values of the actual length.
AAS calibration
How to verify the AAS X Offset, AAS Y Offset value
Step 1: Print a small rectangle width the reference marks around it.
Step 2: Start the contour cutting task, and verify the contour positioning of the plot window.
Depending on the position of that plot window, adapt the AAS X, Y values on panel.
AAS Offset setup steps
Step : 1 Press the [MICS] key by “OFF LINE” mode to enter the Setup Menu, then select [AAS Offset] and input each X, Y value.
The red window is your plot window. As you can see, we have to recalibrate our window in the X and Y direction.
Example X: + 0.5mm, Y: +1mm
The green window is your plot window. As you can see, we have to recalibrate our window in the X and Y direction.
Example X: + 0.5mm, Y: -1mm
The orange window is your plot window. As you can see, we have to recalibrate our window in the X and Y direction.
Example X: - 0.5mm, Y: -1mm
The pink window is your plot window. As you can see, we have to recalibrate ourwindow in the X and Y direction.
Example X: - 0.5mm, Y: +1mm
3) Enter back up values- Enter Back up values
Requires restore when updating the firmware and restore will initialize all the settings. Only “AAS Offset X/Y”, “Scale Length/Width” values can be backed-up even performing restore.
Press “TOOL SELECT” and enter to tool setting menu.Important
The message “Offline for system setup” only appears in case media is loaded in the ValueCut. In case No media is loaded, the machine will show following message: “To load: Place media, To setup: Valid keys”. - Press “>” and display the restore menu.
- Press “CUT TEST” and “ON/OFF LINE” at the same time.
- Press the “ENTER” key.
- Press the “ENTER” key.
