- Introduction
This procedure describes what to do when a Summa USB driver cannot be installed correctly on Windows 7 or Windows 10.
This installation issue occurs when the Summa USB driver version 6.7 is installed on Windows 7, which is not updated to Service Pack 3. Or after a Windows 10 update, where the old Summa USB driver (version 6.4/legacy) was already installed.
Below the device manager shows a print screen of a driver, which could not be loaded. An exclamation mark appears in front of the driver. If you right click the driver and select properties you get the “digital signature” failure
message. - To solve problems on Windows 10
Download the latest version of the USB driver from our website (http://www.summa.be/download/InstallUsbDrivers.exe) and reinstall the driver. - To solve problems on Windows 7
Install the legacy driver as described below: - Installation of the Summa Legacy driver for Windows 7
- Remove the old faulty driver.
1) Make sure the machine is online and connected to the computer.
2) Open the “Windows Device Manager” (windows button + “R” – enter “devmgmt.msc”).3) Right click the faulty driver and select “Uninstall”.
4) Disconnect the USB cable from the cutter. - Change the date of the PC
1) Right click the “hour + date” setting in the “Windows system tray”, and select “Adjust date/time”.
2) Change the time to November 1st, 2015. - Download and install the “Summa USB Legacy driver”
1) Download the new driver from the Summa website. Save the file to a known location on your computer:
http://www.summa.be/download/InstallUsbDrivers6.exe
2) Browse to the location where the driver setup file was stored. Right click the file and select “Run as administrator”.
3) After installation, reconnect the cutter. Make sure the cutter is online. A new driver should be installed automatically. - Set “date/time” back
- Remove the old faulty driver.
