TIB 858: Revised ink pump set-up and caps on XPJ-1682SR-P

Modified on Tue, 11 Jun, 2024 at 12:07 PM

Dear Customer,

In addition to the previously announced "pump change" via TIB 857, MUTOH has now also revised the pump assy on the XPJ-1682SR-P. As a result of this pump change the cap slider assy and head cap assy also have been revised.

These new parts will be mounted in the Mutoh Japan factory as of following serial numbers:

Overview:

  • Ink pump change:

Please be informed that the pump DH-40598 will remain available for following models:

  • XPJ-1341WR-P
  • XPJ-1642WR
  • XPJ-1682WR

  • Cap slider change:

  • Head cap assy change:

The appearance of the old and new cap is exactly the same, however the absorbent material inside the cap has been changed. In order to recognize visually the difference some marking have been placed on the outside of the caps. See illustration below.

Compatibility of parts:

This means that the old caps and old cap sliders can only be used in combination with the old pumps. The new ones can be used in combination with old and new pumps.

Replacement of pumps:

1/ When pumps need to be replaced in the field it is very important to check the serial number in order to know what to order.

In case the serial number is from before the change (KK6U00999 and lower / KK6U300999 and lower) and you need to install new pumps for the first time (*) then please order the "Replacement kit" (see spare parts list). This kit is needed since the new pumps have another mounting plate and need to be used in combination of new caps. A new set of liquid connector is also bundled in the kit.

For mounting instructions see "TIB858_Pump replacement kit_Guide_CS1016-E".

(*) Once the new pumps are in the unit this kit is no longer needed since the correct mounbting plate and liquid connector are mounted.

2/ Fimware: when installing new pumps please update the FW to 1.03 or higher.

In order to have a correct pumping sequence with the new pumps, the "Pump type" needs to be changed from Type B to Type A.
