Background of the change:
If printing is cancelled from the printer while a job is in progress, the UV lamp may remain illuminated for about 6 seconds even though the carriage has stopped.
Error 215 is then triggered; and the UV lamp turns off after those 6 seconds.
This occurs when the print is cancelled under following conditions:
- Uni-Dir printing
- After printing, when the carriage is moving from left to right during additional UV curing.
Both conditions must be met simultaneously.
Beware:
During this 6 seconds period, certain media types may melt, as shown in the picture below:

Cause:
A defect in the fail-safe program (Error 215/217) caused improper monitoring of the UV lamp status when the carriage was stopped.
Countermeasure:
The Firmware has been corrected in version 1.06.
The UV lamp fail-safe logic has been fixed to prevent the lamp from remaining switched on unnecessarily.
Cut-in Serial numbers:
- XPJ-1682UR: KV6U000056 and later
- XPJ-1682URE: KV6E000035 and later
Urgent Market Action:
In order to avoid having safety issues please update the FW versions as soon as possible to these latest versions.
End-users can update the FW themselves by using the MSM software tool
