As specifed in our commercial pricelist, Mutoh is offering, next to the standard media flange (MEDIA-FLANGE), a High Torque version as option (MEDIA-FLANGE-H).

The regular flanges, which are standard delivered with the unit, have a specification of 1 kgf.cm (0.1Nm).
The High Torque version is specified at 4 kgf.cm (0.4 Nm).
When to use these "HIgh Torque media Flanges" ?
Answer:
The High Torque Media Flange is recommended when a media roll has a tendency to:
- Unroll spontaneously after a media feed or step feed during printing.
- Pull backward once feeding stops.
These issues typically occur in the following cases:
- Stiff media with strong memory curl
- Some media have a strong memory curl that causes them to lift and unroll slightly.
- The High Torque Media Flange helps to counteract this effect, keeping the media flat as it likes to unwind.
- Heavy films with spontaneous unrolling
- Some heavy films tend to keep rolling forward after a feed.
- The High Torque Media Flange provides resistance to prevent uncontrolled unrolling.
By ensuring controlled media feeding, the High Torque Media Flange helps maintain print quality and prevents potential media handling issues or step feed drift.
The High torque version is visually recognisable by the grey ring as shown in this picture:
