Please be aware that these spare parts have different codes depending on the machine model.


Further in this technical information bulletin you will find the necessary information on how to replace the cursor roller strip.

Depending on model and serial number, pay very close attention that the steel strips are being mounted in the following correct order:



Each strip contains a PET film + 1 steel strip. The PET film is to be put in between the Y-rail and the steel strip.
After replacing the strip, the strips can be lubricated with the Y-rail cleaner and special grease: RAIL-CLEANER

Replacement procedure

To replace the cursor roller strip in your machine, please follow this procedure step by step. Tools, Jigs & maintenance parts needed:

Note

  • This procedures describes the replacement procedure on a VJ-1938WX. In case you have a different machine, please refer to the maintenance manual of your machine.


Caution
  • When replacing the steel belt, make sure to wear gloves. Prevent the belt from bending or from contamination with dust or other objects. Doing so may cause steel belt breakage.
  •  Be careful not to cut your hands on the steel belt.


Step 1: Remove the covers.


Step 2: Loosen the steel belt adjustment screws (x 2).
            A: Pan-head screw with spring washer and flat washer M3 x 40


Caution
  • When you loosen the steel belt adjustment screw, make sure to unscrew the upper and lower screws the same amount. This makes the adjustment easy after replacing the steel belt.
  • Loosen the steel belt adjustment screws sufficiently (about 5 times). If not done properly, the steel belt may cause damage when retaining the steel belt to the carriage.


Step 3: In order to prevent the steel belt from falling, when moving the carriage to the left (opposite side of the origin), fix steel the belt with acetate tape.


Step 4: Remove the screw retaining the steel belt (origin side).

Step 5: Remove the steel belt from the CR speed deceleration pulley.

Step 6: Remove the CR motor cable from the CR motor.

Step 7: Remove the screws (x4).

A: CR motor mounting plate
B: Hexagon socket screw M4 x 6



Caution
  • Be careful not to damage the CR speed deceleration pulley. Doing so may affect print result.


Step 8: Remove the CR motor mounting plate.


Step 9: Remove the CR lock solenoid cable assy from the carriage lock solenoid.

Step 10: Remove the screws (x4).
A: Cup screw M3x4 Zn-CM2
B: Y driving base


Step 11: Remove the Y driving base.


Caution
  • Be careful not to damage the steel belt. Doing so may affect print result.


Step 12: Remove the cursor roller strip.
A: Cursor roller strip
B: Cursor roller strip film



Caution
  • Pinch both cursor roller arms to rise the cursor rollers
  • Remove the cursor roller strip and film in the direction of the arrow.


Step 13: Wipe off the cursor roller strip holder with ethanol.


Step 14: Insert the cursor roller strip film.
A: Cursor roller strip film


Note
  • Insert it in the direction of the arrow.
  • Do not fully insert it.The film should stick out for 2cm from the folder.


Step 15: While holding the film, insert the cursor roller strip as shown below.

C: non-woven cloth (with ethanol)


Note
  • Insert it in the direction of the arrow.

Step 15: While holding the film, insert the cursor roller strip as shown below.

Note
  • To wipe off the cursor roller strip, hold it with non-woven cloth (with ethanol)
  • Insert the strip on the film.Check if the strip and film were inserted as shown.


Step 16: Fully insert the cursor roller strip and film.


Note
  • Follow the same procedures to replace the other strips.


Step 17: Apply the oil to the cursor roller strip.
A: Jig for oil


Step 18: To reassemble unit, reverse the removal procedure.


Note
  • Leave the maintenance cover L off for further adjustment.


Steel belt tension adjustment


Step 1: Open the front cover.


Step 2: Push the carriage lock towards the rear section (in the direction of the red arrow) and release lock.
A: Carriage lock


Step 3: Move Carriage to the left (opposite side of the Origin).


Note
  • To enable the head lock again, the carriage lock does not need to be moved. Move the carriage towards the origin until the carriage is fixed.


Step 4: Assemble the tension gauge and the steel belt tension attachment.


Step 5: Press the tension gauge against the centre of the steel belt.

Step 6: Press the jig until the steel belt touches the Y rail, then gradually lower the pressure.
Value must be within the defined value when the steel belt and the Y rail are apart.


Note
  • The steel belt tension specification is 0.98N+0.09N (100gf +10gf).
  • The range within which the steel belt may move up or down on the pulley must be1 mm or less.


Step 7: If the tension of the steel belt is not within specification, adjust the tension with the steel belt tension screw.

Caution
  • To adjust the steel belt adjustment screw, turn the top and bottom screws a same amount. If the CR driven pulley is tilted, the steel belt may be damaged duringoperation.


Step 8: Apply thread-lock on area indicated in red as below.


Step 9: Move the carriage and confirm that the steel belt does not run off the CR driven pulley.


Step 10: To reassemble unit, reverse the removal procedure.
