VJ-1638UH/UR: Ink switch from UA31 to UH21/US11

In this flow we will use US11 inks as replacement-ink as an example, this same procedure below can be applied for UH21 inks as well.

Procedure if all nozzles are present.

Required items.

2x VJ-UA31-CL1000E 1000 ml bottle or 1 x PJUVG5-CL3000E 3000 ml bottle (at least 2 litres of cleaning fluid are required).
8x KY-08701 open cartridges with funnel - do not use open cartridges containing ink residues or other cleaning fluids.
8x UH22-CL220E UV cleaning cartridges.
1x DG-48993 Maintenance station.
1x VJ1638UH-WIP 2-pack of wipers.
1x VJ16STG-FB-SO3 3-pack of spitting sponge.
CMYKVAWH US11 inks
1x VJ-ULVA1-ML500 maintenance cleaning( you can not use the ua31 cleaning anymore for maintenance).

Procedure for the ink switch.

1) Drain the waste-bottle completely empty.

2) Perform a nozzle check (to check the current status of the print heads).

3) Turn off the printer and turn on the printer in board manager mode.

4) Download the MPI file and send the MPI file by creating a new ticket through our support-desk.

5) You will receive a ULK file to remove the UA31 ink code from the printer.

6) Download a new MPI and send the new MPI(into the same ticket),

7) You will receive an new ULK to temporarily unlock the smartchip system of the printer.

8) Start the printer in diagnostic mode and perform a long store using the open cartridges filled with cleaning fluid VJ-UA31-CL1000E/PJUVG5-CL3000E.

9) When the long-store procedure with the VJ-UA31-CL1000E/PJUVG5-CL3000E cleaning fluid is finished, shut down the printer and start in board manager mode, download the MPI file and send the MPI file of the printer into the same ticket.

10) You will again receive a ULK file to reactivate the smartchip system --> please do not start the printer without this step.

11) Load the ULK file into the printer in board manager mode

12) Turn off the printer and then proceed with the replacement of:

- 1x DG-48993 Capping station

- 1x VJ1638UH-WIP 2-pack wiper

- 1x VJ16STG-FB-SO3 3-pack of spitting sponge

- 2x DH-40865 Print heads + damper

13) start the printer in normal mode and perform the cleaning cycle with the UH22 cleaning cartridges.

14) Perform the ink Load with US11 inks, once finished perform a Nozzle check, if OK than proceed to the next step

15) Start the printer in Diagnostic and check all the needed head calibrations(slant, F&B, UNI-D and BI-D).

16) Start the printer in user mode and perform the user adjustment( BI-D and micro adjust) and perform a test print.

Procedure if White nozzles are blocked.

Required items.

2x VJ-UA31-CL1000E 1000 ml bottle or 1 x PJUVG5-CL3000E 3000 ml bottle (at least 2 litres of cleaning fluid are required).
8x KY-08701 open cartridges with funnel - do not use open cartridges containing ink residues or other cleaning fluids.
8x UH22-CL220E UV cleaning cartridges.
1x DG-48993 Maintenance station.
1x VJ1638UH-WIP 2-pack of wipers.
1x VJ16STG-FB-SO3 3-pack of spitting sponge.
2x DH-40865 Print head + dampers

8) Start the printer in diagnostic mode and perform a long store using the open cartridges filled with cleaning fluid VJ-UA31-CL1000E/PJUVG5-CL3000E.

Note:

If the white channels of the print head are blocked, than we recommend to perform the long store by disconnecting the power connectors of both circulation pumps so that they are not activated during the long store procedure.

you will need to clean the white ink channels with the help of a syringe and a cartridge filled with VJ-UA31-CL1000E/PJUVG5-CL3000E cleaning fluid, disconnect the connector of the white ink tube above the on both heads and pull the cleaning true it until it is clear and repeat this for the other channel. This step must be carried out meticulously, as even the slightest contamination can jeopardize the success of the procedure.

10) You will again receive a ULK file to reactivate the smartchip system --> please do not start the printer without this step.

11) Load the ULK file into the printer in board manager mode.

12) Turn off the printer and then proceed with the replacement of:

- 1x DG-48993 Capping station

- 1x VJ1638UH-WIP 2-pack wiper

- 1x VJ16STG-FB-SO3 3-pack of spitting sponge

- 2x DH-40865 Print heads + dampers

13) Start the printer in normal mode and clean with the 8 cleaning cartridges UH22-CL220E and Load US11 inks, perform a Nozzle check, if OK than proceed to the next step.

14) Start the printer in Diagnostic and Enter the head ranks and perform all the needed head calibrations(slant, F&B, UNI-D and BI-D).

15) Start the printer in user mode and perform the user adjustment( BI-D and micro adjust) and perform a test print.
