The following procedure describes all necessary steps how switch inks on an XpertJet XPJ-1641SR and XPJ-1682SR between MS41 inks and UMS inks. Please follow the steps below in order to correctly convert printers charged with MS41 inks to UMS inks.

Ink switch from MS41 to UMS inks
Required items:
- Firmware + MSA 5 tool (or higher)
- Spitting box absorbent for UMS ink: “VJ16STG-FB-W3”
- Cleaning & Ink for XpertJet
- MS41 300 ml cleaning packs (MS41-CL300E)

UMS cleaning fluid to carry out the daily maintenance: RJ80UMS-100-CLN
Procedure:
Part I – In self diagnosis mode:
- Perform a firmware update:
- “XPJ1641SR_V102.JFL” (or higher) for XPJ1641SR
- “XPJ1682SR_V103.JFL” (or higher) for XPJ1682SR
- Drain the waste-bottle completely empty
- Start the printer in Self Diagnosis Mode
- Perform a Longstore (> Adjustment >Longstore) using MS41 cleaning and MS41 smart chips.
- Follow the instructions on the panel: Insert Cleaning, Remove bags, Insert Cleaning, Remove bags.
- Once Longstore has finished, the panel will show a message "LONGSTORE".
- Power Down the Printer.
Part II - In user mode
- Exchange the standard spitting box absorbent with a spitting box absorbent for UMS ink: “VJ16STG-FB-W3”.
- Drain the waste-bottle completely empty
- Boot the printer in User Mode.
- The display will show:
Use MS41 Cleaning solution packs and MS41 300ml cleaning smart chips to perform the second wash cycle
After the second wash cycle the display will show: "Wash Retry?" >> Choose: NO
Insert the UMS ink packs in the ink cases, install them in the printer and insert the UMS smart chips to start the ink load.
Start an "Ink Charge" with the UMS inks
Operator documentation
Please ensure that the machine owner / end-user gets a copy of the Regular Maintenance Document and that he has UMS cleaning fluid available to carry out the regular maintenance (RJ80UMS-100-CLN).
